Turnbuckle Hook/Eye Galvanised M6 x 110 mm - Per piece
Turnbuckles are great wire tensioners. When you need a well-tensioned cable, it can be hard to secure it at exactly the right length. Especially with wire rope and chains, this can be a problem. In these cases, a turnbuckle is the solution. This M6 x 110 mm turnbuckle contains a hook on one side and an eye on the other. The maximum weight it can support is 70 kg.
What is a turnbuckle
A turnbuckle is used to tension cables, chains, and ropes. It consists of a small metal frame and two bolts. Instead of a regular head, the bolts have a hook or an eye. Before you can start using a turnbuckle, you require a point of attachment. Install an anchor bolt with eye on, for example, a wall or wooden post. You now have 3 options for connecting the turnbuckle to the attachment point. First, you can use wire to make a loop through both the anchor bolt and the turnbuckle. Close off the loop with one or more wire rope clamps. Second, you can use a carabiner to link the turnbuckle to the point of attachment. Third, you can use the hook on the turnbuckle. In that case, you will have to use option one or two to attach the other side of the turnbuckle. The second and third are the best choices when you want the option to easily remove and reattach the turnbuckle.
Time to attach the turnbuckle. First, loosen the bolts. Next, attach it to the object you want to tension and the point of attachment. Finally, twist the frame to increase the tension. You can do this with your hands, but also with a screwdriver or wrench.
Shade sail
Turnbuckles are incredibly useful for, for instance, putting up a tent or shade sail, as well as many other purposes. To ensure a properly tightened shade sail, use turnbuckles in combination with chains.
