With a wire turner, which you can use, you can intertwine the ends of the wires with one pull and push movement. Do this in enough places and your Matt will be well secured.

Tip: Secure the Matt just above ground level. This prevents moisture from the ground migrating into the mat. You can also shorten the mat yourself by cutting the iron wires with a pair of pincers.
