How do I Mount this Cane Bolt?

The cane bolts should be mounted on the floating side of your door. Usually, the cane bolt is placed in the center of the outer post/plank. You screw on the 2 brackets with the lip pointing downwards. Use our black chipboard screws 4x40mm for this. For hardwood doors, you should pre-drill with a 3.0 mm thick hardwood drill bit.

It is very difficult to indicate standard heights for placing ground bolts. This is because not all doors hang at the same height above the ground. Make sure that the ground bolt protrudes about 3 cm into the ground for a firm anchoring of your door. Place the lower bracket 8 cm above the bottom of the door. This will allow the ground latch to float just above the bottom of your door. The space between the upper and lower brackets depends on the floating height of your door. It is common practice that there is approximately 3 cm of space between the top bracket and the handle. This provides extra strength.
