Anchoring Pergola to the Ground

The great thing about a post base is that you do not have to put the beam of the pergola itself into the ground. The post bracket allows you to anchor the post on the ground. This saves a lot of work. Below is a brief explanation of how to assemble the post base.

1. Place the post bases in the correct position and pre-drill holes with a 6 mm hardwood drill bit. Then screw the wood screws into the pre-drilled holes with a 13mm socket wrench.
2. Are you anchoring the pergola to a concrete floor? Then use our 12 mm concrete drill and pre-drill the screw holes, maximum 70 mm deep. Then insert the nylon plugs 12 x 60 mm to tighten the M8 x 70 wood thread bolts.
3. Be sure to place the washers under the head of the stud to minimise damage to the powder coating. You can then place the cover caps.

Tip: When you are going to anchor the pergola post bases in concrete, you can also use anchor bolts for extra strength. However, do not do this when using tiles. The tension of the anchor bolts could cause the tiles to crack.
