Butyl tape 100mm x 15m
Butyl tape 100mm x 15m
As a seasoned handyman, you probably already have a whole range of tape around the house. Yet you would do well to get hold of butyl tape (also called butyl tape) as this tape is truly unique. Butyl tape is a UV-resistant tape with an Aluminium foil and a single butyl layer on top. This makes this Black tape permanently highly elastic, damp-proof and water-resistant. The Wovar butyl tape is supplied in three widths (50 mm, 100 mm & 150 mm) and has a length of 15 metres. You can easily cut it to the desired length yourself with a Snap-off knife for use.
Applications butyl tape
Butyl tape has many applications due to its unique combination of excellent properties and strong adhesion. Butyl tape cannot be missing from your range when you need to seal or repair something, whether it would be indoors or outdoors. This is all made possible by the butyl's UV-resistance, flexibility and its vapour retardant and water-repellent properties.
For example, butyl tape is used for a waterproof seal after installing window frames, skylights and for all kinds of repairs to, for example, your tap or aluminium profiles. The hydrophobic and vapour retardant properties of butyl tape lend themselves perfectly to this and, thanks to its elastic properties, you can easily shape this tape to what you need.
Use butyl tape this way
First of all, determine the width of the butyl tape that best suits your job, for smaller seals we recommend the 50 mm. For most jobs, the 100 mm variant is most suitable and for large joints (e.g. sealing a skylight) you can choose the 150 mm variant. After this, determine the length and cut the tape to the right length with a Snap-off knife. You can now peel off the remainder of the white foil and stick the tape securely onto the product you want to repair or sealing. Make sure that the adhesion is seamless. Tip: You can easily shape the tape into the desired shape and stretch it a little where necessary.
Please note, if you let this tape overlap, a minimum overlap of 30 mm is needed to ensure good adhesion. This is because at a smaller overlap it may come off.
