Galvanised Coach Bolts
Galvanised Coach Bolts
Are you looking to purchase galvanised coach bolts? We always supply coach bolts, also known as carriage bolts, with the corresponding nut and washer. Popular are the M8 and M10 galvanised coach bolts in the lengths 80, 100, 120 and 140 mm. We also have galvanised coach bolts for sale in long sizes at an attractive price. In addition to galvanised carriage bolts, we also supply stainless steel coach bolts and black coach bolts. However, remember that while galvanised screws can rust over time, zinc-plated screws are always stronger than stainless steel.
Wovar provides a wide range of coach bolts, also called carriage bolts, tailored to whatever it is that you are looking to construct or assemble. Choose M8 x 120 mm coach bolts for building a decking foundation, or pick short M8 x 50 mm coach bolts for, for example, making a gate. Long coach bolts, such as the M8 x 200 mm, are also widely used in the construction of wooden canopies and covered verandas.
Pre-drilling galvanisedcoach bolts
When pre-drilling galvanised coach bolts, we recommend using wood drill bits that are 1 mm thicker than your coach bolt. For example, select a 9 mm drill bit for an M8 bolt. For holes deeper than 7 cm we recommend our auger drill bits, these are extra long drill bits.
Which spanner should I use to install coach bolts?
Wovar's coach bolts are universally applicable and look beautiful thanks to the semicircular head. To tighten M6 nuts, you need a spanner of size 11. The popular M8 nuts are tightened with a size 13. Use a size 17 for M10 nuts, and a size 19 for M12 nuts.
Tap the semicircular head with a rubber mallet before tightening the nut. You will notice that the square part of the coach bolt underneath the head clamps into the wood. This prevents the coach bolt from turning while the nut is being tightened. Please note, always use a rubber hammer. This will not damage the carriage bolts. If the galvanised coach bolts are damaged, there is a good chance that they will oxidise.
In addition to these extremely strong galvanised coach bolts, Wovar also offers stainless steel coach bolts and black steel carriage bolts. What is the difference between stainless steel and galvanised? Galvanised coach bolts are simply stronger than stainless steel. However, stainless steel does not oxidise, galvanised may rust a little over time.
