Coloured-head screws Anthracite stainless steel 4.8 x 50 mm - Box 100 Pieces
When you want to get started installing trespa panels, HPL panels or other facade panels, you have a number of options. Namely, you can choose to glue or screw these panels. The disadvantage of gluing is that the glue does not hold as firmly as screws in a strong storm. There is also a chance that the glue will dry up and crumble over time. For this reason, Coloured-head screws have been invented. As the name suggests, you can recognise them by the wide colourful head available in a variety of colours. The advantage of these Trespa screws is that they have a very wide head, giving them a very high clamping range. The tension is distributed across the entire width of the head.
This ensures that your Trespa, HPL or other facade panels are firmly fixed.
The HPL screws from Wovar come in various lengths and colours. The trespa screws are available in the colours Black, White, Anthracite black, Beige, Grey and Cream. Thanks to the high-quality Qualicoat coating, the colours are deep and this coating is scratch-resistant and UV-resistant. Even after several years, the screws still look like new. The trepa screws are available in lengths 25 mm, 32 mm, 38 mm, 50 mm and 60 mm. The width of the head is 12 mm, giving it a very high clamping range. The thread of the HPL screws is 4.8 mm. The wide head is fitted with a Torx-20 drive, making it effortless to screw into the facade panels with the bit provided. These screws are made of A4 stainless steel. This has the advantage over A2 stainless steel that they are even more resistant to moisture, acids, salts and chlorine. This makes these screws suitable even for salt-rich coastal areas.
Installation of response screws
When installing facade panels you should always pre-drill the panel. You do this with a carbide HSS drill bit, which you can find in our range of hardwood drill bits. We recommend pre-drilling the central hole (also called the fixation point) with the 5 mm variant. This drill is just wide enough for our Coloured-head screws. You drill the fixation point centrally at each beam to which the board will be Securing, regardless of whether you are using 2, 3 or more beams. You then pre-drill the other holes (with which you secure the panel to the beam) with an 8-mm hardwood drill bit. This ensures that the panels can 'work'. By 'work' is meant the expansion and shrinking of the panel as a result of temperature changes. You drill these holes every 40 cm. When drilling, keep in mind that these holes should not be more than 10 times the panel thickness (in mm) from the edge of the panel for optimal fastening. Below is a brief overview of the various (standard) plate thicknesses and the suitable screws:
Sheet thickness | Minimum screw length |
6 mm | 25, 32, 38, 50 & 60 mm |
8 mm | 32, 38, 50 & 60 mm |
10 mm | 38, 50 & 60 mm |
13 mm | 38, 50 & 60 mm |
Now you can start installing the boards. It is best to start by installing the plate at the drilled fixation points. This has the advantage that the plate can easily be 'shifted' if the other drill holes are not perfectly aligned with those of the plate. Then tighten it. Be careful not to tighten it too much, just 'hand-tight' is tight enough (as the plate will expand and shrink). Then start tightening the other screws until all screws are in and the plate is firmly in place. Please note, here too, that 'hand-tight' is sufficient given the working of the plate.

Is this HPL screw not quite what you are looking for? Then have a look at our entire range of Coloured-head screws, where we have various other sizes and colours at our disposal. If you want to secure a rockpanel panel we recommend our rockpanel screws, these are supplied in the same Quality (A4 with Qualicoat coating). However, these are specially manufactured to always have the right clamping force for these specific boards for optimal results. For wooden cladding, on the other hand, we recommend our cladding screws. Thanks to the lens head, these screws provide an almost invisible fastening.
