Coloured-head Screws Beige Stainless steel 4.8 x 32 mm - Box 100 Pieces
Installing facade panels, such as the well-known trespa and HPL panels, can be done in two ways. You can choose to glue or screw the cladding panels. The main disadvantage of gluing trespa panels is that the glue can dry up and crumble, which does not improve strength. To prevent this, special trepa screws have been created. As the name somewhat suggests, these are specially designed for screwing down trespa boards and other sheet material. The wide head ensures a high clamping range.
Coloured-head screws Stainless steel 4.8 x 32 mm
Coloured-head screws from Wovar, also known as HPL screws, are available in a variety of lengths and colours. For example, order the white, black, anthracite, grey or cream variant. For all lengths, take a look at our complete range of Coloured-head screws. The screw possesses a 12 mm wide head that distributes the tension over a large Surface area, giving the HPL screw a higher clamping range. The head is fitted with a Torx-20 drive, making it easy to turn the screws into the wood with the bit provided. Wovar's lag screws consist of high-quality A4, where A2 stainless steel is the standard. The advantage of A4 stainless steel is that it is more resistant to moisture, acids, Salt and chlorine. This means that this screw is even excellent for use in coastal areas, where other types of steel corrode.
Installing facade panels
When installing facade panels, it is always advisable to pre-drill the panel.
This is done with a tungsten carbide HSS drill bit, which you can find in our range of hardwood drill bits. We recommend pre-drilling the central hole (also called the fixing point) with the 5 mm variant. This drill is just wide enough for our Coloured-head screws. You drill the fixation point centrally at each beam to which the board will be Securing, regardless of whether you are using 2, 3 or more beams. Then pre-drill the other holes (with which you secure the panel to the beam) with an 8 mm hardwood drill bit. This allows the panels to 'work'. This is the expansion and shrinking of the panel due to temperature changes. You drill these holes every 40 cm. Keep in mind when drilling that these holes should be a maximum of 10x the panel thickness (in mm) from the edge of the panel for optimal fastening.
After the drilling, it is important to choose the right screw. Make sure you know which RAL colour your sheet metal is, so that you always choose a screw with the right colour. Then determine the desired screw length, which in turn depends on the thickness of the facade panel. Below is a brief overview of the Standard sheet thicknesses and the corresponding screws:
Sheet thickness | Minimum screw length |
6 mm | 25, 32, 38, 50 & 60 mm |
8 mm | 32, 38, 50 & 60 mm |
10 mm | 38, 50 & 60 mm |
13 mm | 38, 50 & 60 mm |
After you have the right screws in your possession, you can start installing the boards. We recommend you start by installing the plate at the fixing points. This has the advantage that the plate can easily be 'shifted' if the other drill holes are not perfectly aligned with those of the plate. Then tighten it. Be careful not to tighten it too much, just 'hand-tight' is tight enough (as the plate will expand and shrink). Then start tightening the other screws until all screws are in and the plate is firmly in place. Please note, here again, that "hand-tight" is sufficient given the action of the plate.
