Coloured-head screws Beige Stainless steel 4.8 x 50 mm - Box 100 Pieces
When you want to get started installing various facade panels, such as the widely known Trespa panels, HPL panels or perhaps facade panels, you have 2 choices. Namely, you can choose to glue these panels, which has the disadvantage that in case of a strong storm or under humid conditions, the panels will come loose. There is also a chance that the glue will dry up and crumble over time. For this reason, Trespa screws have been invented. As the name suggests, you can recognise them by the wide colourful head that comes in a variety of colours. The advantage of these Coloured-head screws is that they have a very wide head, giving them a very high clamping range (after all, the tension is distributed over the entire head). As a result, your Trespa, HPL or other facade cladding panels will be securely fastened.
Coloured-head screws Beige A4 stainless steel 4.8 x 50 mm
Wovar's coloured-head screws, also known as HPL screws, are available in various lengths and colours. For example, order the white, black, anthracite, grey or cream variant. For all lengths, take a look at our complete range of Coloured-head screws. The screw possesses a 12 mm wide head that distributes the tension over a large Surface area, giving the HPL screw a higher clamping range. The head is fitted with a Torx-20 drive, making it easy to turn the screws into the wood with the bit provided. Wovar's lag screws consist of high-quality A4, where A2 stainless steel is the standard. The advantage of A4 stainless steel is that it is more resistant to moisture, acids, Salt and chlorine. This makes this screw even excellent for use in coastal areas, where other types of steel corrode.
Installing HPL panels
When installing wall cladding panels, always pre-drill. Use a hardwood drill bit for this purpose. In the case of these screws a 5 mm variant. Use this to drill the central hole, also called the fixing point, in the beams to which the boards will be secured. Do this for each beam, regardless of whether you are using multiple beams. Then pre-drill the other holes with an 8 mm hardwood drill bit. This size is needed so that the boards can shrink or expand with temperature changes. Drill these holes every 40 cm. Keep in mind that these holes should not be more than 10x the panel thickness (in mm) from the edge of the panel for optimal fastening.
Followed by choosing the right screw, we first recommend looking at the RAL colour of your Trespa panel to get a perfect colour match with the screw you want to use. Then determine the desired screw length, which depends on the panel thickness. Below is a brief overview of the various (standard) panel thicknesses and suitable screws:
Sheet thickness | Minimum screw length |
6 mm | 25, 32, 38, 50 & 60 mm |
8 mm | 32, 38, 50 & 60 mm |
10 mm | 38, 50 & 60 mm |
13 mm | 38, 50 & 60 mm |
Now you can start installing the boards. It is best to start by installing the plate at the drilled fixation points. This has the advantage that the plate can easily be 'shifted' if the other drill holes are not perfectly aligned with those of the plate. Then tighten it. Be careful not to tighten it too much, just 'hand-tight' is tight enough (as the plate will expand and shrink). Then start tightening the other screws until all screws are in and the plate is firmly in place. Note, here again, that 'hand-tight' is sufficient in view of the operation of the plate.
