Coloured-head screws Cream stainless steel 4.8 x 38 mm - Box 100 Pieces
Fixing facade panels can be done in many ways. The two main ones are gluing or screwing trespa panels. When Gluing the cladding panels, you run the risk that the glue will dry out and crumble over time. This does not benefit the strength of the construction. To counteract this, so-called Coloured-head screws have been invented. As the name suggests, these screws are known for their wide and colourful heads. Coloured-head screws, also called trepa screws or HPL screws, have a high clamping range because of the wide head.
Coloured-head screws cream A4 stainless steel
Wovar offers coloured-head screws in various colours and lengths. Popular screws include the White, Black, Grey, Anthracite, Cream and Beige varieties. The colourful screw head possesses a so-called Qualicoat coating, which ensures that the colour is well preserved and the screw head is scratch- and UV-resistant.
The screws are available in the following length sizes:
- 25 mm
- 32 mm
- 38 mm
- 50 mm
- 60 mm
The head features a Torx-20 drive, which allows you to screw them into the cladding panels effortlessly with the bits provided. These screws are made of A4 stainless steel. This has the advantage, compared to A2 stainless steel, that these screws are even more resistant to moisture, acids, salts and chlorine. This allows you to use these screws with confidence even when you live close to the coast. The screws are suitable for this, whereas (regular) A2 stainless steel will be unsuitable for this purpose. For this, you should preferably use a carbide HSS drill bit. You will find these in our range of hardwood drill bits. Wovar recommends pre-drilling the central hole, also called the fixing point, with the 5 mm variant. You drill the fixing point at each beam to which the board is secured, regardless of the number of beams. Afterwards, pre-drill the other holes with an 8 mm hardwood drill bit. Because the hole is 8 mm thick, the panels can 'work'. You drill these holes every 40 cm. Keep in mind that these holes should not be more than 10x the panel thickness (in mm) from the edge of the panel for optimal fastening.
Followed by choosing the right screws, we recommend first of all to look at the RAL colour of your Trespa panel to get a perfect colour match with the screw you want to use. Then determine the desired screw length, which depends on the panel thickness. Below is a brief overview of the various (standard) panel thicknesses and suitable screws:
Sheet thickness | Minimum screw length |
6 mm | 25, 32, 38, 50 & 60 mm |
8 mm | 32, 38, 50 & 60 mm |
10 mm | 38, 50 & 60 mm |
13 mm | 38, 50 & 60 mm |
Now you can start installing the boards. It is best to start by installing the plate at the drilled fixation points. This has the advantage that the plate can easily be 'shifted' if the other drill holes are not perfectly aligned with those of the plate. Then tighten it. Be careful not to tighten it too much, just 'hand-tight' is tight enough (as the plate will expand and shrink). Then start tightening the other screws until all screws are in and the plate is firmly in place. Please note, here too, that 'hand-tight' is sufficient given the effect of the board.
