Cylinder lock replacement
Replacing an extra-long cylinder lock works exactly the same as a normal cylinder lock. To do this, use the steps below:
Step 1: Open the door. On the front side of the door, at the level of the old cylinder lock, you will see a screw with a phillips head impression. This cylinder screw secures your profile cylinder in your door.
Step 2: Use a screwdriver to loosen this cylinder screw and remove it from the mortise lock.
Step 3: Insert the key into the cylinder lock and turn it a little Piece. By pulling slightly, you will notice that the lock loosens after which you can remove the cylinder lock completely from the door.
Step 4: Insert the key into the new cylinder lock and turn the key slightly so that the black "carrier" disappears into the cylinder lock.
Step 5: Push the new cylinder lock into the mortise lock of your door and turn the key so that the deadbolt comes out of the lock.
Step 6: Using a screwdriver, turn the new cylinder screw provided into the hole provided so that the cylinder lock is anchored in your door's mortise lock.
Our advice is never to loosen and tighten the cylinder screws with the drill, but with a screwdriver. This prevents unnecessary damage to the cylinder screw. If the head of the cylinder screw is damaged, you can no longer anchor the cylinder lock in the lock, resulting in a loose lock in your door. Don't have a mortise lock in your door yet?
