Coated Deck Screw - for Hardwoods with Tannic Acid, like Garapa 5 x 60 mm
Coated Deck Screw - for Tannic Hardwood Types like Garapa 5 x 60 mm
Do you want to install deck boards which may leak tannic acid, such as Garapa, Oak, or Red Cedar wood? Then mount them with these specially coated decking screws. They can be used for decking boards up to 35 mm thick. Stainless Steel 410 Deck Screws can start creating black spots in as little as two days, when screwed inside deck boards containing tannic acid. If you do not want to see black spots on your decking boards containing tannic acid, then you should use these coated deck screws from Wovar. The coating of the screw gives it its characteristically grey appearance. This coating is self-healing, so damage during drilling is no longer a problem.
What is the best way to Install Decking Boards with Tannic Acid?
This coated 5 X 60 mm deck screw is partly threaded. This ensures that wood on wood constructions are securely fastened and that gaps do not arise. However, we highly recommend pre-drilling with a 3.5 mm hardwood drill before using the screw, this allows the screw to go into the wood better and prevent screws from breaking.
This deck screw has a Torx 25 drive. By using a Wovar Torx 25 bit with this coated decking screw you will have a perfect fit, which will not damage the head, and your machine will not slip when screwing in. Due to the serrated underside of this screw, hardwoods such as Oak, Red Cedar or Garapa are no problem at all.
Finishing your Decking
Do you want to be sure that the screw is properly countersunk in your decking board? Then use our 2 in 1 countersink drills that are specially made for smooth deck boards. This allows the screw to sink completely. The coated screw also has milling ribs under the head, to ensure that the screw itself is also partly sunk in.
Not only is the finish of the screw important, but also the boards, themselves. That's why it is wise to use spacers. This way, you can install the decking boards at an equal distance from each other, and create a beautiful deck, which is completely symmetrical. You can also easily set your screws symmetrically, with a little help from our decking liner.
