Distance Screws Galvanised 6 x 120 mm - Box 50 pieces
Looking for a 120 mm distance screw? These screws are incredibly strong and have a long lifespan thanks to the strong, galvanised steel. The shank of the distance screws consist of two threaded parts with an unthreaded part in between. The screws are suitable for wood, concrete, and masonry.
Drilling pilot holes
You will not have to pre-drill in softwood. If you are working with hardwood, we do recommend drilling pilot holes with a hardwood drill bit. Always use a drill bit that is thinner than the screw itself. For concrete and masonry, you will have to drill a hole with a masonry drill bit and insert a wall plug. The biggest chance of damaging the screw head is when driving the screw into the material. To minimise this chance, we recommend using the correct torx bit.
Using distance screws
Depending on the size of the gap, you choose a longer or shorter distance screw. Always opt for a longer screw if you are not completely sure of the required size. With distance screws, you can attach two materials with a gap in between. The special quality of this screw is that this does not put extra tension on the screw, so it will not influence the screw.
An example of when to use distance screws. Say you want to add insulation to your concrete wall, but the wall is not completely straight. Create a wooden structure for insulation with slats and fasten them with distance screws, so your new wall will be completely level. The bottom part of the screw will be embedded in the wall and the top part of the screw in the wooden slats. This way, both sides are firmly anchored, without being pulled towards each other. Naturally, you can also do this for door and window frames, doors, and more.
