Elevated Post Bases
Elevated Post Bases
Looking for an elevated post base to mount your wooden post or column? Wovar supplies elevated post bases in two different types: elevated post bases with pins, and without pins. With an elevated post base with a pin, you drill an extra hole in the center of the post, which provides extra hold. All elevated post bases have a plate of 11 x 11 cm, which makes them suitable for different post thicknesses. This way you can easily place 12 x 12, 14 x 14, and 15 x 15 cm thick posts in concrete. These elevated post bases with the concrete anchor are adjustable, which means that the posts can still be adjusted in height, even after they have been placed in concrete.
The elevated post bases with a plate are easy to assemble because you place them in a hole filled with quick concrete. It is important to see what the required foundation will be for each job. This, therefore, deserves the right attention for each situation.

Elevated post bases can be used to mount posts or columns. Additionally, with an elevated post base, you can ensure that, even if the ground is uneven, your posts and columns will remain level. This is especially useful when placing a fence, roof, or shed.
Elevated Post Bases With and Without Pin
Wovar supplies elevated post bases with and without an extra pin. For more sturdiness, we recommend buying the version with the extra pin. When mounting, the wooden post must first be pre-drilled, so that the pin fits into the post. Then screw on the post using the 4 mounting holes. With an elevated post base without a pin, you simply mount the anchor on a post using the 4 screw holes.
The screw holes are 9.5mm wide, so mounting is easy with our M8 coach screws or construction lag screws 8 mm thick. We recommend using galvanised studs or construction lag screws for this.
Both types of bases have a plate of 11 x 11 cm, which allows you to attach different post thicknesses. This way you can easily place 12 x 12, 14 x 14, and 15 x 15 cm thick posts in concrete. Posts with sizes in between are of course, also suitable for mounting. The elevated post base with a pin provides an extra firm attachment of the post to its anchor. The pin on top of the plate is a total of 10 cm long and 2.5 cm thick, so it is exactly in the middle of the post. Drill in the middle of the post a hole of 25 mm thick with a spade drill 25 x 152 mm, which you can find, along with our complete range of spade drills, here at Wovar.
Placing an Elevated Post Base
You simply place the elevated post base directly into a hole that is filled with fast concrete. The fast concrete ensures that the anchor is firmly in place after 15 minutes. Keep in mind that the elevated post base can only be loaded after 2 hours. Because this anchor is adjustable, you can still adjust your post or column's height after it has been placed in concrete, and you can always be assured of a very strong attachment.
It is important for each job to see what the required foundation will be, with regard to the maximum bearing capacity. This, therefore, deserves the right attention for each situation. With a solid foundation, you prevent any sinking.
