Wedge Anchors
Wedge Anchors
These Wovar wedge anchors are ideal for anchoring heavy material in concrete. Consider, for example, attaching a beam to a full concrete wall. Wedge anchors have the advantage that they can be fixed with so-called push-through mounting. This means that, after pre-drilling, you drive the anchor bolt straight through the material to be attached into the concrete. These wedge anchors are available in widths M6, M8, M10 and M12. The range includes both short and long bolts, the lengths range from 60 to 250 mm.
Please note: wedge anchors can only be used in solid concrete. On surfaces like brick or block, use our sleeve anchors.
How do I install a wedge anchor?
The use of these wedge anchors is fairly straightforward. Pre-drill the material to be attached and the concrete with a masonry drill bit. Make sure the diameter of the drill bit is equal to the thickness of the anchor bolts. This means that an M6 wedge anchor must be pre-drilled with a 6 mm thick drill bit. The depth of the hole differs per bolt, of course, and is specifically mentioned for each wedge anchor.
After drilling a pilot hole, proceed to drive the anchor bolt through the material into the concrete base. Hit it using a simple lump hammer. Next, tighten the supplied nut with washer properly. By hitting the wedge anchor and tightening the nut, the bottom of the bolt is pulled into the sleeve. This causes the sleeve to expand and anchor itself into the concrete, creating a rock-solid connection.
