This gas strut is made of Nickel plated steel and has a compression force of 12 kg and comes including fixing lugs and screws. 

To determine whether this Gas strut is strong enough for your flap, you will need to calculate the height of your flap. You can find this out by using the following formula: H = 2000 / W. 'H' here is the maximum height (in mm) of your flap and 'W' is the maximum weight (in kg) of the flap. If you use two Gas struts, the force doubles and the formula becomes: H = 4000 / W.

Installing gas springs for upward-facing flaps

To assemble this gas strut you will need a pen or pencil, Phillips screwdriver and ruler or tape measure s. You will find these in the woodworking, screwdrivers and measuring tools categories respectively.

In addition, use the step-by-step plan below in combination with pictures 2 and 3 for exact measurements and a visual representation of the assembly. 

Step 1: Installing the first mounting cam on the inside of your cabinet. Make sure that the bottom screw hole of the mounting cam is placed at a height of 32 mm and depth of 55 mm.

Step 2:Place the second mounting cam on the inside of your flap. The easiest way to do this is to snap the gas strut to the first cam and fully extend the gas strut. Once fully extended, snap the second mounting cam onto the gas strut. You can now mark the screw holes with a pen or pencil. The screw hole located on the cabinet side will hereby be 84 mm from the inside. 

Is your cupboard or flap made of Hardwood? Then we recommend pre-drilling the holes for a while. This will prevent possible splitting of the Wood. However, do not drill the holes more than 10 mm deep. For best results, use our hardwood drill bits 2 mm.
