Hardwood Drill Bits

With our wood drill bits, pre-drilling in Larch Douglas, spruce, pine, and even hardwood is a breeze. Choose from standard drill bits for hardwood, or discover our extra-long wood drill bits (also known as auger drills). For all our wood drill bits, we recommend moving the drill in and out of the wood while drilling. This way your drill does not get too hot, and you can dispose of the sawdust.

For our popular stainless steel deck screws, we recommend our 3.5 mm hardwood drill for hardwood decking made from Bankirai, Garapa, Padouk, or Kapur wood. When you are using coach bolts, we always recommend picking a drill bit that is 1 mm thicker. For example, an M8 coach bolt would require a 9 mm drill bit. It slides effortlessly through Azobe hardwood and other durability class 1 hardwoods. Make sure you have a powerful drill and empty the drill bit regularly to prevent overheating.

Wovar's hardwood drill bits are made of high-strength steel. This not only makes the drill bits very strong, but also ensures a longer lifespan. In addition to the high-strength steel, the drill bits are covered with a Titanium-Nitride (TiN) coating. The TiN coating increases the surface hardness to around 2,300 HV.

The hardwood drill bit also has a heat-resistance of up to 600ºC. In addition, the Wovar drills are fully ground, resulting in a higher cutting value. The hardwood drill bit has a high concentricity accuracy. This ensures perfect, round holes. Are you planning to drill into metal? Then choose one of our Wovar metal drills.

Which drills are suitable for these hardwood drill bits?

Wovar's hardwood drill bits can be used in combination with a corded drill, a strong cordless drill, or a drill press. The thinner the drill bit, the more often you will have to go in and out of the hole. This way you always empty your drill bit and prevent overheating. Do you see smoke coming from the drill bit? Then you should always pull up your drill bit, empty the filled drill bit if necessary, and only then continue. Sometimes a bowl of olive oil helps to get the wood fibres off the drill more easily.
