Hot-Dip Galvanised Cane Bolt of 40 cm

This very strong Wovar cane bolt is hot-dip Galvanised. During hot-dip galvanizing, these cane bolts are immersed in zinc melt. The zinc melt causes a reaction with steel. This creates a very strong, well adhering coating that offers very high protection against corrosion. The cane bolt is 40 cm long and 16 mm thick. Cane bolts are used to secure fence doors, garden doors, or gates. The cane bolts allow you to hold the doors securely. This cane bolt comes with 2 separate brackets that you attach to your door.

How do I Mount this Cane Bolt?

The cane bolts should be mounted on the floating side of your door. Usually, the cane bolt is placed in the center of the outer post/plank. You screw the 2 brackets with the lip downwards, as shown in the picture, with our Galvanised chipboard screws 5x40mm. Each bracket must be screwed in with 2 screws. For hardwood doors, you should pre-drill with a 3.5 mm thick hardwood drill bit.

It is very difficult to indicate standard heights for placing ground bolts. This is because not all doors hang at the same height above the ground. Make sure that the ground bolt protrudes about 3 cm into the ground for a firm anchoring of your door. Place the lower bracket 8 cm above the bottom of the door. This will allow the ground latch to float just above the bottom of your door. The space between the upper and lower brackets depends on the floating height of your door. It is common practice that there is approximately 3 cm of space between the top bracket and the handle. This provides extra strength.
