Invisible Beam Bracket of 70 x 160 mm for Concealed Beam Support - Per Set
Do you want to connect beams, but prefer not to use a visible fixing material? Wovar's invisible beam brackets 70 x 160 are the perfect job partner. These invisible beam brackets are suitable for beams that are at least 80 mm wide and 180 mm high. Because the invisible bracket is not visible, the suspension system cannot be seen after you have finished mounting. This gives a super nice and professional finish to your roof, carport, or garden house.
Invisible Beam Bracket
The invisible brackets consist of a 2-part system. You mill these 2 plates into the beams that you want to join together. With regard to beams, it is important that you adhere to a minimum of 80 wide and 140 high so that the sheet metal has sufficient space to sink into the beam. Thicker beams are of course always possible. After mounting, slide both discs onto each other, after which the beams hook together. Because invisible beam brackets are easy to assemble, they are also widely used for timber frame construction.
Installing Hidden Wood Connectors
The hidden beam connectors consist of a set of 2 parts: a male and a female part. This includes 2 screws 4.2 x 26 mm to screw them together. 18 screws of 4.0 x 60 mm are supplied for the plates. These Galvanised screws with Torx 15 drive ensure a strong connection. After you have made a recess on both parts with, for example, a chisel, you can screw the sheet metal into it. Then you screw the other part to the crossbar, after which you are ready to hang the beam. You can slide both beams together, after which you have a very strong connection.
Tip: For the best end result, we recommend milling the beams about 9 mm. The beam brackets then fall away in the beam so that you cannot see them on the outside. You will also notice that if you mill in the invisible beam brackets, the cross beam connects nicely to the main beam.
Carrying Capacity of an Invisible Beam Bracket?
The image on the side shows some load directions. In the table below you can read what the bearing capacity of the beam bracket is per direction. F1 stands for the downward bearing capacity, F2 stands for lateral strength, F3 for the force away from the main beam, and F4 for the strength of the screw that connects the 2 components together.

The invisible beam bracket can only be mounted on wood. A direct hidden beam connection to a concrete wall is therefore not possible. If you want to realise such a connection, you can first mount a beam to the wall with an anchor bolt or a frame plug. You can then still mount the invisible bracket for beams. For the beam on the wall, choose a thickness of at least 40 mm, because the screws are 26 mm long and the sheet metal is milled into the wall at 9 mm.
