How many Hidden Decking Clips do I need?

The number of clips you need is easy to calculate. You take the number of decking lengths you are going to lay and multiply that by the number of joists. For example, do you have 12 joists, and do you lay a total of 15 decking boards next to each other? Then you require 180 invisible mounting clips. 

Fastening Deck Boards Invisibly

Below, we explain in 3 simple steps how to fix your decking boards invisibly with our hidden fasteners.

Step 1: Place the fastener on the bottom of the shelf and mark the holes with a pencil. Use 2 holes for planks smaller than 165 mm, for a decking plank 165 - 190 mm wide always use 3 holes of the fastener. Pre-drill these holes with a 3 mm hardwood drill.

Step 2: Using 2 or 3 coated screws 4 mm thick, screw the fasteners to the bottom of the decking board. The length of the screw depends on the thickness of your decking board. For decking boards 21 mm thick, use 4 x 25 mm screws, and for decking boards 25 mm thick, choose coated screws 4. 30 mm.

Step 3: Turn the decking boards over and slide the boards together, hold approx. Then attach the fasteners to the bottom beam with the screws. Make sure there is a gap of approximately 1 cm at your decking boards.

How many Hidden Fasteners do I need?

To know how many fasteners you need, we use a few calculations, these are:

- Approximately 18 pieces per m², depending on the width of the plank.

- Number of fasteners x 2 or 3 screws per m². For planks smaller than 165 mm use 2 screws, for planks wider than 165 mm use 3 screws.

- Distance of the lower beams: Thicknesses of 21 - 25 mm, a centre-to-centre distance of 40 cm, from 25 mm use a centre-to-centre distance of 50 cm for the lower beams.
