Pergola Corner Joint Black for 15 x 15 cm beams - Per Piece

Are you looking for a corner bracket for your pergola of 15 x 15 cm beams? This Open Pergola Corner Bracket from Wovar has a high-quality black powder coating and is extremely strong due to the galvanised steel. The net size of this corner joint is 145 x 145 mm, which gives it a nice appearance with your 15x15cm beams. To install the bracket, you will need the following fasteners:

  • 6 lag screws M8 x 70 mm
  • 6 cover caps for M8 lag screws
  • 6 black rings

How to Install 15 x 15 cm Open Pergola Corner Brackets

Mount this corner bracket by pre-drilling the lag screws with a 6.0 mm hardwood drill bit. Then the coach screws can be screwed in easily and straight with a 13 mm socket wrench or with our universal socket wrench. Place the black ring under the head of the lag screw, this will keep the coating of the corner joint unscratched. Then place the cover cap over the lag screw, so that you have a nice black bracket.

Are the Corner Brackets also Suitable for Larger Beams?

A frequently asked question is whether you can also place larger beams in our 15 x 15 cm corner connectors. The answer is: yes, this is possible. The coupling pieces are open, and therefore also suitable, for example, for posts that are a few centimeters larger. Of course, these stick out a few centimeters.

Placing Angled Braces

Make your pergola resistant to strong winds by installing angled braces at the corners and connectors. This provides extra reinforcement for your pergola. You can easily place an oblique brace with our construction lag screws of 6 mm in combination with a TX30 bit.

The counter head screw you need and how deep you need to pre-drill the mounting holes depends on the size of the brace you are using. In the table below you can see an overview of this.

Brace of 50 x 90 mm Construction lag screw of 6 x 120 mm Depth of mounting hole needed: 80 mm
Brace of 50 x 150 mm Construction lag screw of 6 x 140 mm Depth of mounting hole needed: 100 mm
Brace of 50 x 200 mm Construction lag screw of 6 x 160 mm Depth of mounting hole needed: 120 mm

To pre-drill the holes, use a 6 x 230 mm wood auger drill bit. Drill the mounting holes about 10 cm from the longest side of the angled brace.

Finishing tip: Opt for a countersunk finish by pre-drilling a 10mm deep hole. You do this with a 24 mm spade drill. This way you can neatly hide the counter-head screws.
