Post screw Galvanised 10 x 40 mm - 50 pieces

For the larger pergolas and thicker fence posts, Wovar supplies 10 x 40 mm post screws. These screws are slightly thicker than the 8 mm thick version. This gives them more load-bearing capacity and better anchoring.

Install the post screw

The 10 mm screws do not fit through our post holders point or flat post holders as standard. You should drill these mounting holes slightly with an 11 mm metal drill. You will see that this minor operation makes for a more solid construction. To screw the post screw straight into the wood, you need to pre-drill with an 8.0 mm thick hardwood drill. Pre-drilling is necessary for hardwood!

Our post screws made of galvanised steel are much stronger than stainless steel screws. Galvanised steel is harder. The downside is that these screws can oxidise. The wide screw head, also called the counter head, provides a large clamping range so that metal is pulled very tightly to the wood. The torx 40 impression makes it possible to mount the screws quickly and easily.
