Pump espagnolettes are a commonly used surface-mounted closure for double-opening doors, also known as stolp doors. Because of this, espagnolettes are also known as stolp door closures or simply span jolettes. Due to the absence of the centre post in the frame, the 2 doors or windows lock into each other. What is an espagnolette?

Pump espagnolettes consist of a lever with which you operate 2 square bars, these bars are at the top and the bottom of the espagnolette and close in the lower and upper sill of your window frame. Mounting pump magnets

You start by installing the pump handle, this is best done with Galvanised screws of 4 x 30 mm. The height of the handle on doors is determined by the lower rod, this is only shortened when mounting on windows. A useful trick is to first install the short 110 cm rod on the pump handle and only then install the handle. When doing this, always make sure that the handle is folded open, i.e. in the position at which the latch should open. Now determine the height by holding the rod at the bottom of the door and securing the pump espagnolette to your door. You now also secure the longer upper rod to your pompespagnolette, if necessary cut it to size with a Hacksaw. When you then push the handle down, you will see that the rods will disappear perfectly into the lower and upper sill.

We recommend pre-drilling with our 2.5 mm hardwood drill bits. Then use a 15 mm butterfly drill to make a hole in the lintel of your window frame, exactly where the rod meets the frame when you push the handle down. You finish this hole again with the supplied corner locking plate, this can also be done in the lower lintel if present. If there is a concrete floor and therefore no threshold, place the Strike box in the concrete. The espagnolettes are now ready for use.
