Scarifying Rake 160 cm - Galvanised Steel - Per piece
A scarifying rake, also called thatch rake, is used to remove moss or the layer of thatch on your grass. In addition to that, you use a scarifying rake to aerate the lawn. Over time, a layer of thatch forms on your grass. This layer consists of old grass, plants, and other organic material. After a while, the thatch layer covers so much that the grass does not get enough room to grow or receive nutrients and oxygen. To keep your grass healthy and green, it is necessary to regularly scarify the lawn.
Aerate the lawn
A scarifying rake is equipped with knives instead of tines, like regular rakes. The knives dig into the ground to dethatch and aerate the lawn. We recommend dividing your lawn into sections of one square meter. Scarify each square horizontally and vertically, so you are sure to remove all the thatch.
Scarifying may cause bare spots here and there. Do not worry, you can simply sow some new grass here.
When to scarify the lawn
Scarifying disturbs the soil and should be done at the right time of year. The best period is just before the months when the grass grows quickly. These months are March to May, and August to October. We recommend scarifying twice a year, just before or at the start of these periods, so your grass has plenty of time to recover.
