Black Stainless Steel B-Fix Clips for Hidden Mounting of Deck Boards - Box of 100 Pieces
Looking for a decking clip to fix your decking boards invisibly? These black B-Fix clips by Wovar provide a beautiful blind attachment for your planks. The clips are made of stainless steel and have a strong black coating, so they do not rust. They are used for deck boards that have a groove, which is the milled portion on the side of a board. Use the clips for decking from 20 to 28 mm thick. The width can vary from 90 mm, 120 mm, 140 mm, or 145 mm.
How do I Attach the Black clips for the Invisible Fastening of deck boards?
Fastening these black B-Fix clips is quite easy. You simply slide the edge clip into the first rebated plank and attach it to the bottom beam. With the next plank, press the clip into the groove of the plank and fix it in the bottom beam. Make sure that you do not fasten the screw too tight at first so that the next plank can then be slid into the clip.
After pressing down the plank, finish fastening by tightening the screws firmly. This can be done between the boards because there is a gap of 5 mm between the boards. The clips come standard with 100 pieces of stainless steel screws 5 x 35 mm with Torx 20 bit.
Which Types of Wood are Suitable?
Choose a stable hardwood species from durability class 1 or 2 that does not work too much. Woods tested for using these clips are: Ipé, Padouk, Afrormosia, Cumaru, Itauba, Limbali, Larch, Douglas, Bamboo, Teak, Jatoba, Merbau, Garapa, Massaranduba, and Accoya. Wood types that warp too much are not suitable for these decking clips. We recommend using planks of a maximum of 365 cm. The length of the plank has a lot of influence on the laying, with a maximum of 365 cm. It is possible to lay longer planks, but this will not make it any easier.
Two Clips at the Seam
Note: use two clips for a crosscut seam. It is not possible to attach two planks to 1 clip, because there is too small a part of the clip in the plank. Keep in mind that there is enough space for that on the bottom bar. It is important to provide sufficient sub-beams, so place a sub-beam every 30-35 cm.
How many Clips do I Need?
The number of clips you will need will of course depend on the width of the plank and the number of joists you are using. If we assume that the bottom beams are placed every 35 cm, centre to centre distance, you lay with 1 box of 100 pieces:
Board width in mm | Number of m2 (per 100-piece box) |
190 mm | 8 m2 |
140 mm | 6 m2 |
90 mm | 4 m2 |
