Fixing your roof edge trims and other aluminium profiles is of course done with strong sealants or the right screw. We prefer the (Classic) solution of a screw as sealants can come loose over time. With a good screw, the roof edge trims or Aluminium are permanently fixed.

There is a special screw for this at Wovar, namely the grub screw that we have in our range. This is a lens head screw made of A2 stainless steel stainless steel that is fitted with a 15 mm EPDM washer to protect the aluminium profiles from corrosion of the screw itself and to seal the screw hole completely Waterproof.

Characteristics of the screws for roof edge trims

The best screw for securing various aluminium profiles and roof edge trims is of course the lens head screw. You can recognise this screw by its lens-shaped head (also called lens head), this head shape has the advantage of a much nicer finish and an elegant shine. Furthermore, the screw has a Partial Thread which has the advantage that the profile tightens during assembly and is well secured. The drive is a TX-20 making it easy to fasten. 

Using the screw

To determine the right length of screws for mounting, take the thickness of the profile you want to fasten and add at least 2 cm for fastening in the wood. This is because it is important that the spider screws are screwed at least 2 cm into the wood. This ensures powerful fastening of your profiles. With these 4.5 x 35 mm screws you can mount aluminium profiles with a maximum thickness of 80 mm.

Before installing these screws in the aluminium roof edge trims or profiles, pre-drill for optimal fastening. For the 4.5 mm thick dowel screws, pre-drill with a metal drill bit of 4 mm, you can find these in the category metal drill bits.
