This window handle is made from Zamak. Zamak (also written as Zamac or ZAMAK) is a strong alloy made from a combination of several materials, the most important of which are zink, aluminium, magnesium, and copper. The black coating adds a layer of protection. The lock on the handle is SKG1 certified. This indicates that the lock can withstand a simple burglary attempt for at least 3 minutes. 

This is a cockspur handle, recognisable by the spur (the little part sticking out to the side). By sliding the spur into the groove on the strike plate, you can put the window in a ventilation position. You can even lock the handle in this position. 

The window handle comes with 1 strike plate, 2 washer plates, 2 keys, and 8 4 x 50 mm screws.

Left handed window handle

This black window handle is left handed, i.e., it is easiest to use this handle with your left hand. This handle is suitable for right outward opening doors and left inward opening doors (see illustration below). The window handle does not have a lock or push button and can thus always be moved.

Installing window handles with SKG lock

Ideally, the window frame has a minimum width of 41 mm and a minimum depth of 31 mm. To prevent the wood from splitting, we recommend pre-drilling the frame with a 2.5 mm hardwood drill bit.

1. Decide where on the frame you want the window handle.
2. Attach the strike plate and the corresponding washer plate to the frame.
3. Lock the window handle in the strike plate to determine the position of the window handle. 
4. Keep in mind that you need a gap of about 1.5 to 2.5 mm between the strike plate and the handle to ensure that the handle locks well.
5. Fix the handle to the frame using 2 of the provided screws. Be careful not to drill into the glass if the window frame is narrow.
6. Check to see whether the window handle works as it should. If so, use the other screws to complete the job.
